Large residential septic system

Septic System Maintenance

Routine maintenance is the single most effective way to extend the life of your septic system and avoid costly, unexpected repairs. Fulcrum Contracting provides maintenance services for residential and commercial properties throughout Douglas County.

ATT Maintenance Contracts

Oregon requires ATT systems to remain under contract with a certified maintenance provider for the life of the system. Fulcrum provides annual inspection, maintenance, required reporting, and support when alarms or other issues occur.

Residential Maintenance

Most septic system failures are preventable. Regular inspections and scheduled service let us catch small issues before they become major problems — and keep your system running the way it should for years to come.

Preventative maintenance is different for every system whether you have a standard system, pump system, sand filter, or ATT. For ATT systems (alternative treatment technology), the state requires the systems to be serviced and inspected annually.

Call us to discuss what system you have so we can advise you based on your usage and system type.

As part of our service, we measure the solids in your tank and recommend an appropriate pumping schedule. When pumping is needed, we can help coordinate with a trusted local septic pumping company.

Septic tank pumping is completed by a licensed pumping company, and we can help coordinate that service when needed.

What Homeowners Can Do

Good habits between service visits go a long way toward keeping your system healthy.

Be Mindful of Water Use

Spread laundry loads throughout the week rather than doing multiple back-to-back loads. Fix leaking toilets and dripping faucets — even small leaks add up to significant volume in your system over time.

Watch What Goes Down the Drain

Only flush toilet paper and human waste. Keep the following out of your drains and toilets:

  • Wipes of any kind… including those labeled “flushable”
  • Paper towels
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Medications
  • Grease and cooking oils
  • Harsh chemical cleaners

These disrupt the bacterial balance in your tank and can damage your drain field.

Protect the Drain Field

Keep vehicles, heavy equipment, and heavy foot traffic off the drain field area. Avoid planting trees or shrubs with aggressive root systems near the field. Don't cover the drain field with impervious surfaces like concrete or asphalt.

Know Where Your System Is

Keep a simple record of where your tank and drain field are located on your property. This is especially helpful if you ever need service or if you're selling the property.

Commercial Maintenance

Commercial septic systems operate under far greater demands than residential ones. High usage volumes, fluctuating loads, and Oregon DEQ compliance requirements all mean that commercial properties need a maintenance partner who understands what's at stake.

Fulcrum Contracting works with commercial clients throughout Douglas County to build maintenance schedules tailored to their specific systems, usage patterns, and regulatory obligations.

Commercial Maintenance Services Include:

  • Scheduled inspections on a frequency matched to your system and usage
  • Large-capacity and multi-tank system service
  • Alternative Treatment Technology (ATT) systems inspection, maintenance, and DEQ reporting
  • Pump and mechanical component inspection and service
  • Written records and documentation for DEQ compliance purposes
  • Evaluation and recommendations for system capacity and condition

Commercial Clients We Serve

  • RV Parks & Campgrounds
  • Homeowners Associations (HOAs)
  • Golf Courses & Clubhouses
  • New Commercial Development
  • Agricultural & Ranch Properties
  • Multi-family Residential Properties
  • Restaurants & Food Service Operations

Why Regular Commercial Maintenance Matters

  • Prevent Costly System Failures

The cost of scheduled inspections and service is a fraction of what an emergency repair or full drain field replacement runs. Proactive maintenance is the smartest investment a commercial property owner can make.

  • Stay in DEQ Compliance

Many commercial and specialized septic systems are subject to ongoing inspection, maintenance, reporting, or permit requirements. We help clients understand and meet the requirements that apply to their systems.

  • Protect Your Business Operations

A septic failure can force a temporary or extended business closure. Consistent maintenance with Fulcrum significantly reduces the risk of an unexpected shutdown at the worst possible time.

Set Up a Maintenance Schedule
